Dangote made the allegation while speaking during a public engagement, where he expressed frustration over what he described as regulatory actions undermining local investments in Nigeria’s petroleum sector.

According to the billionaire industrialist, such extravagant spending raises serious questions about the source of income of public officials entrusted with regulating the oil and gas industry.

He further alleged that some regulatory decisions by the NMDPRA were deliberately designed to frustrate domestic refiners, including the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, while favouring fuel importation through the issuance of multiple import licences.

Dangote argued that continued importation of petroleum products, despite the availability of local refining capacity, was discouraging investment and threatening the survival of indigenous refineries.

He called on the Federal Government to urgently intervene and investigate the operations of the regulatory agency, stressing that transparency and accountability are critical to the success of Nigeria’s energy reforms.

As of the time of filing this report, the NMDPRA had yet to issue an official response to the allegations.
