The governor confirmed his exit from the PDP in a resignation letter dated November 4, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, Ede North Local Government Area. In the letter, Adeleke attributed his decision to the unresolved crisis rocking the PDP at the national level.

“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the Party with immediate effect,” the letter read.

Adeleke, who became a Senator representing Osun West and later Governor of Osun State under the PDP, expressed appreciation to the party for shaping his political career.

He acknowledged the opportunities the PDP provided, saying the party played a significant role in elevating him to national prominence.

On Tuesday evening, during an announcement monitored by SaharaReporters, Governor Adeleke declared the Accord Party as his new political platform. The development comes after days of speculation and reports indicating that he was preparing to join the party, according to sources close to the situation.

His defection is expected to trigger new political alignments ahead of the next election cycle in Osun State.
