The decoration ceremony, held at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) headquarters in Abuja, was presided over by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, who led the management team of the FRSC.

Tinubu expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the need for enhanced technology, stricter enforcement of speed limits, and improved inter-agency collaboration to reduce road crashes nationwide. She urged the FRSC to increase personnel deployment during festive periods and expand public sensitization campaigns.

“I believe we should do more with speed limits. People must comply because we don’t want to see accidents on our roads,” she said. “Even in developed countries, speed limits are strictly followed. We also need more officers on the road, especially during the Yuletide season, to protect lives.”

Corps Marshal Mohammed explained that the honour was conferred on the First Lady to acknowledge her commitment to the welfare of Nigerians and support for road safety advocacy. He highlighted that the success of the FRSC is measured not only by the reduction of accidents but also by prompt post-crash care in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
