t Thursday’s plenary, five lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the Labour Party (LP) officially joined the APC.

Those who defected are Daniel Asama Ado (Plateau), Chidi Mark Obetta (Enugu), Phillips Anayo Owuegbu (Enugu), Nnaji Nnolim (Enugu), Denis Agbo (Enugu), and Matthew Nwogu (Imo).

The latest defections bring the APC’s membership in the Green Chamber to 242, while the PDP now has 74 members.

In their separate letters read on the floor of the House by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, the lawmakers cited lingering leadership crises within their parties as the reason for their defection.

With this development, the APC now firmly controls the House, strengthening its ability to push through key legislative priorities in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
