The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), Professor Sheu Ibrahim Adaramaja, disclosed this on Tuesday during the Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing Report organised by the Ministry of Communications in Ilorin.

Adaramaja said the affected schools are located in communities such as Babanla, Baba Sango, Sangbe, Oke-Ode, and other areas recently hit by security threats. He explained that the decision to close the schools was taken to protect students and teachers from potential attacks.

According to him, teachers from the affected schools have been redeployed to safer locations to continue teaching and justify their salaries.

He further revealed that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had approved the 2025 promotion for teachers across the state to boost morale and improve performance in public schools. The state government has also abolished the payment of Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) levies in all public schools.

Meanwhile, the development comes amid growing protests by residents of Patigi Local Government Area over worsening insecurity. Last Friday, hundreds of youths, community leaders, and elders took to the streets to decry constant killings, kidnappings, and the collapse of healthcare services in the area.

The protesters accused the government of neglect, alleging that doctors at the General Hospital, Patigi, fled the town due to the escalating violence. They also claimed that armed Fulani attackers have been terrorising villages, making it unsafe for residents to go to their farms or move freely at night.

Community leaders have called on Governor AbdulRazaq to urgently intervene and restore peace, warning that continued silence could lead to total economic collapse in parts of Kwara North.
