Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the opening of the 7th EFCC–NJI Capacity Building Workshop for Justices and Judges in Abuja, Tinubu said his administration remains committed to strengthening anti-graft institutions to ensure transparency and accountability.

According to a statement by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the President noted that the proceeds recovered by the Commission have been reinvested into the economy to fund key social initiatives such as the Students Loan and Consumer Credit schemes.

“A Nigeria free of corruption is possible if we all commit to doing what is right,” Tinubu said, emphasizing that the judiciary plays a central role in sustaining accountability and justice.

He urged judges to uphold integrity, warning that public confidence in the justice system could only be restored through transparency and fairness.

In his remarks, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede lamented the persistent delays in high-profile corruption trials, saying they have overshadowed the agency’s progress. He accused some politically exposed persons of exploiting legal loopholes to stall proceedings, describing such practices as “weaponisation of procedure.”

Olukoyede also raised concern over state high court judges issuing ex parte orders to obstruct EFCC investigations, warning that such actions threaten the credibility of the judiciary and embolden corruption.

He called on the judiciary to remain steadfast and ensure that justice prevails, adding that prolonged trials erode public confidence and weaken the national fight against financial crimes.
