According to KogiTribune, some of the affected officials may be compelled to refund millions of naira to the commission. The funds in question were allegedly spent on sponsoring their spouses during the Hajj pilgrimage.

The decision to recall the seconded staff is seen as part of NAHCON’s effort to restore accountability and recover mismanaged funds. Sources within the commission revealed that the move was also aimed at strengthening internal reforms and curbing abuses that had trailed the 2025 pilgrimage operations.

Stakeholders have long raised concerns about the influence of seconded workers in the commission, with allegations that their postings created room for abuse, favoritism, and undue financial burdens on NAHCON.

With the redeployment now in effect, observers believe the commission is taking steps to clean up its operations and rebuild public trust ahead of future Hajj exercises.
