In a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday, the commission announced that applicants must now supply additional personal and contact details to strengthen verification procedures and improve the accuracy of business records.

According to the CAC, every Business Name Online Update must now include the proprietor’s date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, telephone number for the registered office or proprietor (if different), and a valid means of identification.

The commission noted that the new measures are designed to enhance documentation integrity, curb fraudulent activities, and ensure effective communication with business owners.

“These updates form part of ongoing reforms geared towards securing our systems, improving compliance, and delivering faster, more reliable services nationwide,” the CAC stated.

The commission also urged business proprietors to adhere strictly to the new requirements to avoid processing delays.

The CAC, which oversees the registration and regulation of companies and business names in Nigeria, has in recent years embraced a full transition from manual operations to a digital service model aimed at simplifying business processes across the country.
