The expansion aims to increase urea production capacity in Nigeria from three million metric tons annually to nine million metric tons, with the introduction of four additional trains alongside the existing two. The move is part of Dangote Group’s broader strategy to enhance food security, improve agricultural productivity, and strengthen Africa’s presence in the global fertiliser market.
In Ethiopia, the Group recently held the groundbreaking ceremony for a $2.5 billion fertiliser plant in Gode, expected to produce three million metric tons of urea per year.
According to Dangote Group, Topsoe will provide ammonia technology licensing and full process design packages for six ammonia plants—four in Nigeria and two in Ethiopia—leveraging advanced, environmentally responsible technologies.
Separately, Dangote Cement Plc reaffirmed its commitment to community development through ongoing social investment initiatives across Nigeria and the African continent.
