The action came less than 24 hours after a violent clash erupted between the Saminu Turaki-led faction and supporters loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The confrontation, which occurred on Tuesday, resulted in chaos as police fired teargas to disperse the opposing groups.

During the fracas, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, were reportedly teargassed while attempting to intervene or access the premises.

A visit to the secretariat on Wednesday showed heavy security presence, with officers using barbed wire to barricade the entrance and restrict access to the facility. No factional leader was sighted at the secretariat, and only a few policemen remained stationed around the building.

Meanwhile, supporters of the faction aligned with Kabiru Turaki condemned the police for sealing off the party headquarters, insisting that the action was unnecessary and politically motivated.

The PDP has yet to issue an official statement on the closure as the crisis continues to deepen ahead of crucial political engagements.
