Public outrage erupted after FIFA posted a photo of the Kebbi Stadium under its FIFA Forward Programme on social media. The image, taken in 2023, showed an unfinished structure, prompting Nigerians to question how the allocated funds were spent.

During an interview on ARISE News, Pinnick maintained that all FIFA funds were properly audited and transparently managed under his leadership.

“FIFA gives you their money, they audit their money, and they know A to Z of how it’s spent,” he said. “If the contract was $1.1 million in 2020, that was less than ₦400 million at the time. There was no variation, no additional funding even after COVID-19 hit.”

Pinnick further urged Nigerians to verify information before passing judgment, stressing that his administration’s focus was always on accountability and football development.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has announced plans to set up a special committee to investigate FIFA and CAF grants totaling $25 million disbursed to the NFF.
