Speaking during an interview with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo, the former TVC host explained that her past comments were not well-informed.

“It was because I did not know him. After I made that comment, people called me and said, ‘Morayo, do you realise that when he was governor, he actually served us?’ I said, ‘Oh, I did not know,’” she admitted.

Beyond politics, Afolabi-Brown also opened up about her personal struggles with depression, revealing that at some point she battled suicidal thoughts.

“I was depressed. It got so bad that I thought I was suicidal. I just left everything behind. I remember just walking on the express, hoping a car would hit me. It was that bad,” she recalled.

The media personality revealed that her decision to leave the popular talk show Your View came after its 10th anniversary, describing it as the right time to move on after 12 years.

She also recounted how she was once dismissed from TVC until her identity as the daughter of the late legal luminary Alao Aka-Bashorun was made known to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who intervened in the matter.

Afolabi-Brown further revisited one of the most controversial moments of her career — when she faced backlash over a televised interview in which she was accused of calling her husband a pedophile. According to her, the First Lady’s intervention helped her reconcile and publicly apologise.

For Afolabi-Brown, her exit from Your View symbolises the end of one chapter and the beginning of another in her media journey.
